TwitchCon 2017 keynote: what you need to know

If you missed the TwitchCon 2017 keynote, or if you’re just looking for the details on what we announced, you’ve come to the right place!

Below you’ll find the TL;DR of everything we’re working on, and how we plan to help you grow your audience, strengthen your community, and fuel your creativity in the weeks and months ahead.

Stream Summary

Ever wondered how your stream went after it ends? At a glance, your new Stream Summary gives you a look at your stats for each stream, including recently unlocked achievements, top clips, traffic sources, and more info to help you identify how to keep growing. Starting in November, you’ll have access to your Stream Summary right on your dashboard.

Premieres

Similar to how people gather around the TV for the debut of a favorite show, we want to help video creators organize first-viewing events to generate the most excitement, anticipation, and viewership around the unveiling of your new videos. By the end of this year, you’ll be able to use Premieres to transform your uploads into exciting live events by scheduling, hyping, and interacting with viewers in chat during the unveiling of your content.

Raids

Raids are one of the most exciting things on Twitch, and now we’ve made them easier. After all, one of the best ways to grow your channel is by teaming up with other streamers. Starting in November, you can use our new Raids command (/raid) to start a raid, let your viewers join in, and then automatically host the channel you want to send your viewers to.

Rooms

With Rooms, you can easily create separate spaces within your Chat that allow your community to have more meaningful interactions. Maybe you need a place to discuss new patch notes. Or maybe you need a place to share your favorite memes. You can create a Room for anything.

Best of all, Rooms will stay open even when you’re not streaming, so your community can chat whenever they want! We’re super excited to launch Rooms by the end of the year.

Rituals

Rituals makes it easier for you to celebrate special moments that bring your community together. Say a viewer is checking out a new channel for the first time. After a minute, she’ll have the choice to signal to the rest of the community that she’s new to the channel. Twitch will break the ice for her in Chat, and maybe she’ll make some new friends.

Rituals will help you build a more vibrant community when it launches in November.

Achievements

For many streamers, Affiliate or Partnership status is the dream, but the steps you should take to reach those goals haven’t always been clear. Achievements clarifies those requirements and encourages creators to learn streaming best practices and interact with their communities. This feature is built to give streamers a fun roadmap to achieving greater success on Twitch. Check back in November for more.

Subscription Gifting

You’ve been asking us forever, and we’re so happy to deliver just in time for the holiday season. Subscription Gifting is coming very soon! You’ll be able to purchase a 1-month subscription for anyone on Twitch, including the $4.99, $9.99 and $24.99 options. Gift givers will receive social recognition in chat and to third parties, and recipients receive all the benefits of subscription. Give the gift of Twitch! Stay tuned for more news on this feature.

We have tons of stuff to talk about at this year’s TwitchCon. Stay tuned to the Twitch Blog and @Twitch for more updates all weekend long!
